Fuzz Queen West reopens: a conversation with founders Jessie & Flo on growth, resilience, and building a modern beauty franchise

After an unexpected setback, the original Fuzz Queen West is coming back this April. 

We sat down with Fuzz founders Jessie and Flo to talk about the reopening of their first location, what drives the Fuzz brand, and why now is an exciting time for future franchise partners to join the journey. 

Congratulations on 701 Queen West location reopening. What does this location mean to Fuzz and to you personally? 
701 Queen West is where a lot of our story lives. It is one of those locations that really shaped the brand early on. Reopening it feels full circle. Personally, it is emotional. It is a reminder of how far we have come and what we have built. 

Reopening after fire is no small feat. What did this experience teach you as founders? 
It taught us resilience in a real way. Things will go wrong, sometimes completely out of your control. What matters is how quickly and calmly you respond. It also reinforced how strong our team and community are. 

How did you approach the renovation? What’s new in this space? 
We treated it as an opportunity, not just a rebuild. The space is cleaner, more elevated, and more intentional. Better flow, better functionality, and small details that really improve both the client and team experience. 

For someone discovering Fuzz for the first time how would you describe the brand? 
Fuzz is a brand dedicated to hair removal (waxing, threading, laser). We took something that can feel intimidating or inconsistent and made it simple, clean, and comfortable, with an experience you can rely on every single time. 

What problem were you originally trying to solve when you created Fuzz? 
Before Fuzz, there was no brand truly dedicated to waxing. The experience felt outdated and inconsistent, and you never really knew what you were walking into. We built Fuzz from a client’s perspective, creating something clean, welcoming, fast, and affordable, where the experience always matches the result. 

What sets Fuzz apart from other waxing or laser businesses? 
Consistency and experience. From booking to service to aftercare, everything is thought through. It is not just about the service, it is how you feel the entire time.

It is simple and seamless. No guesswork, no awkwardness. Our teams are warm, highly trained, and genuinely care. It feels elevated but never intimidating. 

What role does brand play in franchise success? 
Brand is everything. It builds trust before someone even walks in. For franchise partners, it creates a clear standard to follow and something strong to grow from.

We are very hands on. From site selection to training to marketing, we are involved at every stage. It is not just a playbook, it is an ongoing partnership.

What are your long-term goals for Fuzz as a brand? 
To become the global standard in this category. We want to continue expanding while protecting what makes Fuzz feel special.
