What waxing does to your skin and hair
This is the part worth understanding, because it explains everything else.
Hair comes out from the root. A razor cuts hair at the surface, so regrowth is immediate. Waxing removes the whole hair, follicle end included, which is why skin stays smooth for weeks rather than a day and a half. Depending on where you are in your growth cycle, that's typically three to six weeks.
Regrowth comes in finer. This is the compounding part. Wax consistently and the follicle is repeatedly disrupted, so hair returns softer, thinner, and less dense over time. It becomes less noticeable, and each appointment gets easier than the last. Someone who has been waxing with us for years is having a completely different experience from someone in month one.
You get free exfoliation. Wax lifts the topmost layer of dead skin along with the hair. That's why skin looks brighter straight after a service, not just smoother. It's a skincare treatment that happens to also remove hair.
It's often kinder to sensitive skin. If you react to shaving or to depilatory creams, waxing is frequently the gentler option.
How often you should book
Four weeks is the interval we recommend, because it keeps you in step with your natural hair growth cycle rather than working against it.
Wax too early and the hair isn't long enough to lift from the root. That causes breakage at the surface, which means uneven regrowth and a higher chance of ingrowns. Hair should be about one quarter of an inch, roughly 6 mm, before your appointment.
The reason to hold the rhythm is what happens across several appointments. Six or seven visits in, the finer regrowth is obvious. The appointment feels routine instead of new. You stop thinking about it.
The two waxes we use, and why it matters
Not all wax is the same, and using the wrong one on the wrong area is the difference between a good service and an uncomfortable one. Our Fuzzologists choose based on the area being treated.
Hard wax is for sensitive areas. It's applied, allowed to set, and lifted off without strips it grips the hair rather than the skin, which means quick removal and minimal irritation. Ours is made in France, gluten-free, paraben-free and cruelty-free, formulated with beeswax and titanium dioxide for a gentler removal. This is what we use below the belt, underarms and across the face.
Soft wax is for larger zones: legs, arms, back. It's applied thinly and removed with cotton strips, which covers ground fast and gives a smooth, even finish across a big area. Ours is made specially for Fuzz in France with soothing calendula extract.
Most clients never think about which wax is being used. That's rather the point. Your Fuzzologist makes the call so you don't have to.

Your skin is prepped with The Oil before the wax and finished with The Oil and The Lotion afterwards. That's our own line 100% natural, made in Canada, and it goes on every service, in every cabin, at all 18 Fuzz locations. A brow wax gets the same prep as a full leg.

Common questions
Does hair grow back thicker after waxing?
No. It grows back finer. That's one of the main reasons to wax consistently rather than occasionally.
Does waxing make hair grow back darker?
No. Regular waxing typically results in lighter, less noticeable hair over time.
How long does smooth skin last?
Usually three to six weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle. We recommend booking every four weeks to stay aligned with it.
How long does hair need to be?
About one quarter of an inch, roughly 6 mm. Shorter than that and we can't lift it from the root.
What's the difference between hard and soft wax?
Hard wax sets and lifts off without strips, which suits sensitive areas like the face and below the belt. Soft wax is removed with cotton strips and covers larger areas like legs and arms quickly.
