Your Post-Wax Routine: How to Care for Your Skin After Waxing and Laser

Your service ends when you leave the cabin. Your results don't.

What you do in the days after your wax or laser session makes a real difference. It affects how your skin feels, how smoothly your hair grows back, and how long you stay happy with your results. The best part is that it doesn't take much. A few simple habits and the right products do most of the work.

Here's how our Fuzzologists recommend caring for your skin after your visit, the products we use in every service, and what's new on our shelves this season.

The short answer: For the first 24 to 48 hours after waxing, keep your skin cool, calm, and moisturized. Skip heat, heavy workouts, and exfoliation. After that, exfoliate gently two to three times a week and moisturize every day. After laser, protect your skin from the sun and stick to calming, hydrating products. Consistent aftercare helps your skin stay smooth and comfortable between visits.

Why aftercare matters

Right after waxing, your skin is fresh and your follicles are open. That's a good thing, but it also means your skin is more sensitive than usual for a day or two. Treating it gently during that window keeps it calm.

Over the following weeks, aftercare is about two things: hydration and gentle exfoliation. Hydrated skin feels soft and comfortable. Regular exfoliation clears away dead skin cells so new hair can grow through the surface easily. That's how you help prevent ingrown hairs and keep regrowth smooth until your next visit.

It starts in the cabin: meet Fuzz Skin

We care about what touches your skin before, during, and long after your service. That's why we created Fuzz Skin, our own line of body care essentials. Vegan, Leaping Bunny certified, and made in Canada.

Every Fuzz service starts with Fuzz Oil to prep the skin and finishes with Fuzz Lotion to soothe and hydrate. We don't use just any oil. We use what works, and what feels good on your skin. Now you can use the same products at home.

  • The Wash: a gentle, pH-balanced cleanser with aloe and witch hazel that cleans without stripping your skin.

  • The Scrub: a natural blend of sugar, salt, and plant-based oils that exfoliates while keeping skin hydrated. Ideal for wax prep and helping prevent ingrown hairs.

  • The Oil: a lightweight blend of avocado, sunflower, and marula oils that nourishes skin and leaves it soft and glowing, without feeling greasy.

  • The Lotion: a silky daily moisturizer with shea butter, avocado oil, and niacinamide to support your skin barrier and lock in moisture.

  • The Serum: a daily smoothing serum with gentle exfoliants and deep hydration to help prevent ingrown hairs and fade post-bump marks.

  • The V-Mask: a calming treatment that helps soothe bumps and dry skin, with a cooling finish. A favourite for Zillian and other V and P services.

The whole line is designed to work together, and with every Fuzz service.

Your post-wax timeline

The first 24 to 48 hours

Your skin just needs some quiet time.

  • Skip hot baths, saunas, hot tubs, and intense workouts.

  • Avoid sun exposure and self-tanning products.

  • Wear loose, breathable clothing over the waxed area.

  • Hold off on scrubs, dry brushing, and exfoliating products.

  • Moisturize with The Lotion or The Oil to keep skin calm and hydrated.

After 48 hours

Now your routine begins.

  • Exfoliate gently two to three times a week with The Scrub or a dry brush.

  • Use The Serum on areas that tend to get ingrown hairs.

  • Moisturize every day, especially in the colder months when indoor heating can dry out your skin.

Between visits

Keep your routine simple and steady. Clean, exfoliate, moisturize. Then book your next visit every 4 to 6 weeks to keep your regrowth in rhythm. Consistent care at home and consistent visits work best together.

After laser: a slightly different routine

Laser aftercare is all about calming and protecting your skin.

  • Avoid sun exposure, and use SPF on treated areas that will be exposed.

  • Skip heat, sweaty workouts, and exfoliation for a few days, or as long as your Fuzzologist recommends.

  • Choose gentle, hydrating products.

Fall and winter are a great time for laser, since there's less sun exposure. Your Fuzzologist will give you aftercare guidance tailored to your treatment area at every session.

New at Fuzz: OMAD

This season, we're welcoming OMAD to Fuzz. OMAD is a skincare brand built on Traditional Chinese Medicine principles, focused on balance and on getting to the root of skin concerns.

OMAD Bio Cellulose Restore & Repair Serum Mask is made for skin that needs extra calm and hydration. It's formulated with eight calming botanicals, a probiotic and fermented rice serum, and hyaluronic acid. OMAD originally designed it for skin after laser and other professional treatments, which makes it a natural fit for your laser routine. It's also lovely for dry, sensitive skin during the colder months.

OMAD Instant Firm and Lift is a nourishing sheet mask with frankincense, white water-lily, and panthenol. It's designed to hydrate, calm redness, and support skin elasticity. A nice way to give your face some extra care between visits.

Ask your Fuzzologist which OMAD treatment fits your skin and your service.

Aftercare FAQ

What should I avoid after waxing?

For the first 24 to 48 hours, skip hot baths, saunas, intense workouts, sun exposure, self-tanning products, and exfoliation. Wear loose clothing and keep your skin moisturized.

When can I exfoliate after waxing?

Wait 48 hours, then exfoliate gently two to three times a week with a scrub or dry brush.

How can I prevent ingrown hairs after waxing?

Regular, gentle exfoliation and daily moisturizing are the most effective habits. A targeted product like The Serum can help too.

Is dry brushing good after waxing?

Yes, once your skin has had 48 hours to settle. Use a soft brush, light pressure, and dry skin, then moisturize.

What should I put on my skin after laser hair removal?

Calming, hydrating products, and SPF on any treated area exposed to the sun. Your Fuzzologist will give you aftercare instructions for your treatment area.

Are Fuzz Skin products the same ones used during my service?

Yes. We use Fuzz Oil to prep your skin and Fuzz Lotion to finish every service. Both, along with the rest of the line, are available to take home.
